Observation the presidential elections in Georgia

At the invitation of the Central Election Commission of Georgia the delegation of Uzbekistan comprising of a member of the Central Election Commission Komiljon Adilov and a member of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis Shavkat Boltaev on October 25-29, 2013 took part in the international observation of the elections of the President of Georgia held on October 27, 2013.

The progress of preparation and conduct of the elections of the President of Georgia was observed by 60 local and 63 international organizations. About 19746 accredited local and 1240 international observers, including 274 from the ODIHR/OSCE, 65 from the Parliamentary Assembly of the OSCE, 32 from PACE, 11 from the European Parliament.

The observation was also attended by the heads and representatives of the Central Election Commissions of Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Ukraine and other countries. The election campaign was covered by 84 local and 35 foreign media.

The preparation and conduct of the elections were exercised by the Central Election Commission, 75 district, 3655 local election commissions, including 52 abroad, as well as 34 at special sites set up in penal institutions, hospitals and military bases.

The bulletin for the secret ballot included 22 candidates for the President of Georgia, nominated by the various political parties.

According to the Central Election Commission of Georgia, turnout equaled to 46.9 % of voters, while 62.11 % of them voted for the candidate for the President of Georgia, George Margvelashvily nominated by a political party "Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia".
