Observation of the presidential elections in Tajikistan

At the invitation of the Central Commission for Elections and Referendum of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Executive Committee of CIS a member of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan Mukhamadjon Khodzhaev and a member of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Fahriddin Komilov within the Mission of the CIS observers participated in the international observation of the elections of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, on 6 November 2013.

The progress of preparation and conduct of the elections of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan was observed by 502 representatives from international organizations and foreign countries, including 178 from OSCE/ODIHR, 34 from the Parliamentary Assembly of OSCE and 9 from the European Parliament, as well as about three thousand local observers. As part of the Observation Mission of CIS it was attended by 15 long- term and 194 short-term observers leaders and members of the Central Election Commission of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Moldova, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Armenia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine and representatives of the diplomatic corps.

Preparation and conduct of the elections was exercised by the CEC, 68 district, 3219 local election commissions, including 61 polling stations which were established abroad.

According to the CEC, the last presidential election in a single list of voters, which was drawn up and approved by the CEC decision included 4,201,156 citizens.

The number of citizens who participated in the vote was 3,640,056 persons, representing 86.6 % of the total voters in the country.

According to the preliminary results of the elections the incumbent President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon scored 83.6 % of the vote.
