Meeting at the Central Election Commission

On December 20, 2016, was held a meeting of the Central Election Commission’s Chairman Mirza-Ulugbek Abdusalomov with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to our country Pamela Spratlen.

CEC Chairman informed Ambassador on the results of presidential elections of the Republic of Uzbekistan that took place on December 4, 2016.

During the meeting, issues of international observation of the electoral process were discussed. It was noted that the recommendations of observers from international organizations and foreign states definitely will serve as a basis for further improvement of the electoral legislation and practice.

Ambassador Pamela Spratlen informed about the participation of employees of the US Embassy in Uzbekistan to monitor the presidential elections According to them, in Uzbekistan special attention is paid to creating the necessary conditions for the free expression of the citizens, including facilities for people with disabilities and possibility of using ballot papers in Braille by blind.

In the observation of presidential elections of the Republic of Uzbekistan participated over 50 representatives of the United States, including: as a part of the OSCE ODIHR election observation mission – 20, the US Embassy in Uzbekistan – 20 and 13 scientists, public and state figures.
