On the visit of the delegation of the United Nations Needs Assessment Mission to Uzbekistan

The United Nations Needs Assessment Mission, headed by Senior Officer for Elections and Political Affairs, Paskali Russi, is expected to visit Uzbekistan on July 23-30.


The purpose of the NAM is to evaluate the electoral environment in the country being visited, the legal measures governing the electoral process, as well as the capacity and needs of the election administration, followed by the making recommendations to the Coordinator regarding the appropriateness of providing the necessary assistance.


The Needs assessment mission (NAM) usually recommends assistance in supporting information and educational programs for voters, material and technical support to voter registration and polling processes, and training of election commission staff based on best international practices.


During the visit, several meetings are planned with representatives of the CEC, heads of other ministries and departments, political parties and public organizations, representatives of the media, civil society institutions, as well as a one-day trip to the Fergana region, where meetings with representatives of relevant organizations are planned.
