Tashkent round table: «Political parties and elections: world practice and legislation of Uzbekistan»

On September 29-30 in Tashkent international round table has been organized by Central election committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Academy of State and Social Construction under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Institute on studying of civil society, Office of projects coordinator of OSCE in Uzbekistan, National democratic institute (USA) and non-governmental organization «Regional dialogue» (Slovenia) on theme «Political parties and elections: world practice and legislation of Uzbekistan».
Experts from Belorussia, Great Britain, India, South Korea, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, USA, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Japan, international organizations, representatives of political parties operating in our country and public associations participated in forum.
Participants of round table discussed role of political parties in development of the State and social construction, growth of social and political activity of population, experience of different countries in ensuring of democratic election process, including by expansion participation of political parties in elections to legislative and representative bodies.
In their performances foreign experts underlined that for years of independence in Uzbekistan steady and dynamically developing political system of the country, parliament of two houses working on professional basis are created, electoral system and legislative base of the elections responded to democratic requirements and international rules, all necessary organizational and legal, material and technical conditions for free and active participation of citizens and political parties in election processes are generated completely.
Thus, especially noted that legislation on political parties of Uzbekistan completely corresponds to international standards. Its realization and further development influence on strengthening real multiple party system in country, increase of parties’ role in realization of conducted democratic public-political and social-economic reforms.
