CEC Sets up Poling Stations

Taking into account maximum conveniences for the electorate

At its regular session, theCentral Election Commission took a decision on the establishment of poling stations at Uzbekistan representative offices in foreign states.
Ruling on the data of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, CEC decided to organice poling stations at the representative offices of Uzbekistan in foreign states.
The Central Election Commission took into account the information on the formation of poling stations established by electoral commissions in all constituencies of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
As Janabay Sodikov, a CEC member, explained, constituencies are formed taking into account borders of regions, ciries and districts and ensuring maximum convenience for the electorate.
“Borders of poling stations should not cross borders of constituence.Stations can be established in health resorts,resthouses, hospitals and other permanent medical establishments as well as in places situated in remove and hard-toreach areas,” he noted.
In compliance with the current law, poling stations can be formed in areas numbering not lees than 20 and not more 3.000 voters. The total number of poling stations in the republic wikk amount to over 8.400.
Having cpnsidered the abovementioned information, district electoral commissions made decision on establishment of poling stations and defined their numeration in every constituency based on Article 13 of the law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On elections to Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan”. The lists of poling stations with addresses are published in the local press.
