Chairman of the 1st Karakalpak district election commission S.Kudaybergenov opened the meeting. The gathered got acquainted with the program of the candidate, which covers such issues as continuation of the economic and sociopolitical reforms, strengthening democracy, ensuring the supremacy of the law and social justice, supporting farmers, small business and private entrepreneurs, improvement of the investment climate, reducing the tax burden, improving the people’s well being.

The reforms implemented in Uzbekistan in the years of independence gave significant results. The country’s economy is developing and the people’s well being is improving. The pension system is being improved, the sizes of pensions and social allowances are growing and the real incomes of the population are increasing. Processes of modernization and democratization of the country, liberalization of the economic and political spheres are continuing.

Islam Karimov noted that the Republic of Karakalpakstan occupies a notable place in the economy of Uzbekistan. Achievements in the economy and social life of Kaakalpakstan were a result of the self-sacrificing work of the representatives of the region, he said.

The participants of the meeting said the measures implemented to ensure peace, social and political stability, development of the economy and strengthening Uzbekistan’s independence are directly linked with the name of Islam Karimov.

They stressed that supporting the candidature of Islam Karimov was a guarantee of the continuation of the wide-scale reforms, development of the economy and increasing the people’s prosperity.
