Tohir Faruk, chief editor of Ittihad newspaper (Pakistan):“I participated in the elections of the President of Uzbekistan in 2007 as an observer and could see that all required conditions for the realization of the voters’ constitutional rights were created. The elections were held on the basis of democratic principles.
“I familiarized myself with the materials related to the present parliamentary elections. The country’s mass media widely covered the election programs of the four political parties participating in the elections, their meetings with voters and the changes in the election system.
Peter Spari, vice president of Germany-Uzbekistan friendship society:“Uzbekistan is a country, which, based on ancient traditions, is confidently moving towards progress. I am glad that relations between Uzbekistan and Germany are developing successfully, and our friendship society is contributing to this cooperation.
“Being an observer at the elections to the Legislative Chamber means a big responsibility for me. I visited a number of voting stations and saw that all conditions have been created there for holding the elections based on the principles of democracy. Full information on all candidates has been provided and the voting cabins have been organized in a way preventing any interference.
“I also familiarized myself with the pre-election programs of the parties. Their projects are diverse, and all of them are aimed at protecting people’s interests and development of the country.”
Hamdi Abulainain, vice chairman of Egypt Commerce and industry chamber:“In Uzbekistan, all conditions have been created to ensure transparency in the process of elections. It is important that the young people are active in this process as well.
“At the upcoming elections, 15 seats will be provided to members of the Environmental movement, which I see as an important initiative to solve environmental problems.
“Deputies elected from the Environmental movement will work on the improvement of the environmental legislation and economic mechanisms.”
