Adolat party holds congress

The social-democratic party Adolat (Justice) held its fifth congress in Tashkent on 5 November. 220 delegates elected from the regional party organizations participated in it.
The chairman of the party’s Political Council I.Saifnazarov opened the congress with the report of the council’s work and the main directions of the future activities.
The congress participants analyzed the results of the party’s activity and the work of its governing bodies in 2005-2009, the achieved success, the existing shortcomings and the unused reserves.
They also defined the priority directions of increasing the efficiency of the work of the party organizations in the regions, as well as measures to improve the work of the parliamentary fraction and the deputy groups in the regional people’s deputies councils.
The congress delegates outlined the priority tasks for the participation of the Adolat in the upcoming elections to the legislative and the representative bodies.
The congress considered and approved the main positions of the election platform of Adolat, which define the party’s role in the solution of the important tasks of democratization and renewal of the country, as well as deepening economic and sociopolitical reforms.
In accordance with article 20 of the law on elections to the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, the congress nominated candidates to the deputies of the Legislative Chamber.
