Candidates for parliamentary elections registered

The Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan held a session on 20 November to consider the issue of registration of candidates to deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis.
The commission said it had carefully checked the documents presented by the political parties for registration of the candidates and their compliance with the requirements of the legislation.
The Central Election Commission registered a total of 517 candidate to deputies, including 123 candidates from Adolat party, 125 from Milliy Tiklanish party, 135 from UzLiDeP and 134 from the People’s Democratic Party.
The chairman of the commission Mirza-Ulugbek Abdusalomov told journalists that the process of nominating the candidates by the parties was held in full compliance with the election laws.
In accordance with the article 22 of the law on elections to Oliy Majils, 31.9% of all candidates are women. In particular, 31.7% of candidates from Adolat are women, 32% from Milliy Tiklanish, 33.3% from UzLiDeP and 30.6% from the People’s Democratic Party.
A large part of the registered candidates are representatives of the industrial sphere, small business and farmers. Among them are also representatives of the fields of science, education, healthcare, etc.
