During the meeting, a high appraisal has been given to the efforts by ODIHR/OSCE in providing recommendations and assisting the promotion of democratic processes, free elections and human rights in OSCE member nations. It was noted that Uzbekistan’s Central Election Commission closely cooperates with OSCE Project Coordinator in Uzbekistan. The visitors have been introduced to members, structure and the activities of CEC, with basic principles of the electoral system, peculiarities of national electoral legislation along with amendments and addenda introduced in them. The guests got informed also with outcomes of the 2009 elections to representative bodies of government.

The head of delegation, Douglas Wake, thanked CEC for a warm welcome as much as for the meticulous information and support, for creation of favorable environment for ODIHR/OSCE mission to assess the 2009 elections.
