Electoral districts has started the second round of elections

Today at 6.00 am in 39 electoral districts has started the second round of elections of deputies to the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.


As is known, on December 27, 2009 took place elections to the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Reports of the district election commissions on the results of elections have been considered by the Central Electoral Committee and decided that 39 candidates out of 135 have not received the quantity of voices necessary for the election as a deputy of Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan. After all, as it is articulated in Article 44 of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan «On election to the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan», the candidate is considered to be elected as a deputy should receive more than half of the votes of actual number of participating voters.

In accordance with the Article 45 of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan «On election to the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan», if in electoral district stood more than two candidates to the deputies and none of them was elected, the district election commission makes the decision on carrying out the second round of elections of the two candidates who have received the majority of votes, and informs Central Electoral Committee and voters of the respective electoral district.

In accordance with the given legislative norms and on the basis of the decisions made by the district election commissions, the Central Electoral Committee at its session on the 30th of December, 2009 adopted a resolution on carrying out second round of elections in some electoral districts.

According to the resolution it has been defined that second round of elections in 39 electoral districts will take place on January 10, 2010.

The Central Electoral Committee had confirmed the Program for preparation and holding of second round of elections in separate electoral districts for the elections of deputies to the Legislative Chamber to Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The second round of elections, as it is in the basic elections, is held on the principles of openness and publicity in compliance with all norms of the national electoral legislation. Elections will be held in the same electoral districts that formed for holding the basic elections, on the same lists of voters.

Today at 6.00 am in 39 electoral districts has started the second round of elections of deputies to the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The candidate is considered to be elected as a deputy who receives more than half of the votes of actual number of participating voters.

Moreover, today has been holding the second round of elections in 779 election districts for the deputies of local representative bodies of state authority.
