Second round of elections are taking place in compliance with the norms of electoral legislation

On January 10, 2010 the deputy-chairman of the Central Electoral Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan Mr.Togaev has informed representatives of media on the course of second round of elections of deputies to the representative bodies of state authority.
As is known, today at 6.00 am, according to the Articles 38, 45 of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan «On elections to the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan» in 2475 polling stations of 39 electoral districts have begun second round of elections of deputies to the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
As he acknowledges, the Central Electoral Committee receives data on the second round of elections. Till 9.00 am, 812.502 persons out of 4 million 969 thousand 547 voters included in the lists of 39 electoral districts have voted.
Second round of elections are held in corresponding electoral districts on two candidates who have received majority of votes. The second round of elections, as it is in the basic elections, is held on the principles of openness and publicity in compliance with all norms of the national electoral legislation on the basis of the universally recognized international norms and standards.
4220 observers from political parties are participating in the capacity of observers of the second round of elections of the deputies to the Legislative Chamber of the Parliament.
Moreover, today has been holding the second round of elections in 779 election districts for the deputies of local representative bodies of state authority.
Central Electoral Committee has not so far received any information about the serious infringements on the course of second round of elections.
