“DIPLOMATIC WORLD” set to publish an article on Uzbekistan and future elections

On July 17, 2021, a meeting with the Executive Director of the Diplomatic World magazine B. Dietrich and the manager of the Diplomatic World Institute Center A. Turkstra was held at the Central Election Commission (CEC).

It was attended by the CEC Deputy Chairman B. Kuchkarov, CEC member G. Rakhimova, head of the CEC international cooperation department B. Ismoilov, as well as a consultant of the Uzbek Embassy in Belgium R. Mamatov.

The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Belgium reached an agreement with the administration of the “Diplomatic World on publication of the magazine’s special issue dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan in September.  

For this reason, the magazine staff plan to publish an article on the reforms realized in the country, including the electoral legislation prior to the elections of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, which will be held this year.

It was emphasized at the meeting that the new Electoral Code was formed in accordance with generally recognized principles and norms of international law and in compliance with international electoral standards.

During the election process in Uzbekistan, much focus is set on both cooperation with the ODIHR/OSCE, and further democratization of the national electoral system of our country, full provision of electoral rights of citizens through compliance with electoral legislation and practice in line with generally recognized international democratic standards.

At the meeting, there were discussions about comprehensive coverage of the elections, ensuring the participation of women, youth and people with disabilities, arranging trainings for the commission staff, expanding international cooperation and exchanging experience.

At the end, the parties expressed satisfaction with the strengthening of mutual cooperation and strengthening of relations.
