Political parties have provided signatures to CEC

On October 10, 2019, the International Press Center of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan has submitted to the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan relevant documents and at least forty thousand signatures supporting voter participation in the elections.

Following the announcement of the election campaign, authorized representatives of all political parties began to collect voter signatures, obtaining registration certificates from the Central Election Commission.

According to Article 38 of the Election Code, voters have the right to sign signatures in support of one or more parties.

Political parties were also given additional signatures, given that they could not be tampered with, or not filled out, in the process of collecting signatures.

These activities are, in principle, carried out at work, service, study, residence, pre-election activities, and in other places where the propaganda and signature collection is not prohibited by law.

At the same time, the voter shall indicate his / her name, surname, patronymic, date of birth (if he is eighteen, additionally the date and month of birth), place of residence, serial number and number of the passport.

The signature sheet shall be signed by the person collecting signatures with their surname, name and patronymic, as well as sealed by the head of district, city structure of the respective political party.

It is important for political parties to collect signatures and check the correctness of signature lists for participation in the elections of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Political parties provide forty thousand and no more than 10% of additional signatures to verify the accuracy of the signature lists.

Correctness of signature lists submitted by political parties shall be verified by the Central Election Commission within five days and the political parties shall be informed in advance about the time and place of conducting the verification.

Authorized representatives of political parties shall participate in the checking of correctness of signature lists by the Central Election Commission.

The CEC has set up an Expert Group to check the accuracy of signature lists.

This group includes experts in the field of law enforcement and justice, as well as representatives of civil society institutions.

Expert team members will review each signature sheet, taking into account the correctness of the signature form, the corrections made, the omitted corrections, the fact that different persons have completed the same signatures, and that there are approved corrections.

In case of any defects or suspicions in the visual inspection, these signature lists will be selected for verification by special tools.

If more than a quarter of the signature lists selected by the Central Election Commission are found to be in violation of the law, the signature lists shall be returned to the authorized representative of the political party and shall be given a two-day period to address the deficiencies.

If the deficiencies in the signature lists by the political parties are not remedied within two days, or if additional signature lists are not provided, then among the all submitted signature lists the authorized ones will be considered as valid and accepted.

The sheets and the signature list without any deficiencies (additionally collected) will be submitted to the CEC and they will be fully verified and their correctness will be checked.
